Being a student of Shane for the past 7 years had been a great experience. Starting at age 11, he taught me the fundamentals of drumming, to in more recent years learning my own style of playing. Shane is a fantastic teacher, he decodes the student's choice of song, rather than forcing them to play out of a book. As time moved on and the years added up, Shane and I became more of friends than a generic teacher student relationship. Shane genuinely cares for each of his students and teaches much more than just learning to play an instrument. Shane has taught me about character, life, and being genuinely happy. Never once did I come in and was not met with a smile. Shane is the best music teacher I know and would more than recommend him to anyone who wants to lean to play an instrument.

I have two sons that have taken lessons from Shane at Key Music Studio. I have only one word to describe Shane (phenomenal). My boys started with him at the age of 10 and 13. Shane keeps the mood very upbeat and fun, which allows the kids to be themselves and explore vast types of music they want to learn. My younger son loves Shane. At first he could not decide what instrument he wanted to play from Bass to Drums. He just simply loved them both, Shane let him alternate fr

Before I began taking lessons with Shane Key ten years ago, I knew very little about music. I wasn't even interested in listening to the radio because nothing about popular music really caught my attention. The first instrument I learned with Shane was the drums, which I played for six years. In my earliest years, I could only manage simple beats, and would watch in amazement as whenever Shane would sit down and pound out fast, complex rhythms like it was nothing. I remember one time I said, "I don't think I could ever do that." In response he told me, "You can do anything that you set your mind to. Don't ever tell yourself that you can't." Eventually, I decided to try other instruments because I wanted to play melodies and not just rhythms. I tinkered with guitar and bass for a month or
