I’ve been going to Matt at Shards since 2017-2018 and cannot speak highly enough of him and his work. Having worked on music as a musician and in production for the past 20 years I’ve seen a lot of different approaches to the process. Matt is such a reliable and thoughtful pro that I haven’t even considered going anywhere else since we first worked together. We were chatting recently because as I was checking my phase metering on some tracks I’m mixing, I realized he had already made sure my drum mics were in phase. To say nothing of the fact that I’m hesitant to fuss with the tracks as they are from the session because I’m genuinely not sure I can do anything to make them sound better than I already do. We've had multiple fantastic recording experiences here. Matt is a treasure -- a good listener, a good communicator, and incredibly adept on the equipment. The vibe of the studio is great -- it's full of creative inspiration and vintage instruments, feels comfortable and welcoming, and photographs so well for those promo shots you'll want to take.
