My son started Violin lessons the month before the pandemic set in and everything locked down. Southbury Music Studio shifted gears smoothly and transitioned to virtual lessons. The quality of instruction remained high even in the virtual setting and my son continued to grow as a musician. This is a testament to both the quality of the instructors (Heidi Ohngemach during his first year and now Dr. Stephan Tieszen), and how well it is run. My son continues to be engaged in music, even being inspired to take up other instruments and experiment with the things that he has learned. The instructors are top notch, professional musicians and the front desk staff is polite, efficient and accomodating. I started taking piano at the Southbury Music Studio a little over a year ago at 54 years old. It's been a dream of mine to learn piano and after many attempts at teaching myself, I reached out to inquire about lessons. I didn't really know what to expect, but what I experienced was a welcoming staff, a patient teacher, and a supportive musical community that encourages one another. I'm a little more than a year into my learning journey and am extremely pleased with how far I've been able to progress, and it would not be that way were it not for Tim and the wonderful folks at Southbury Music Studio.
