Our six year old son has been taking lessons from Jan for about two months now. She has a teaching style that is hard to come by these days. She has made our son excited about music and learning piano. She is also flexible with our scheduling conflicts and will work with us when adequate notice is given.

Been with Jan for over two years and kids were contemplating on sports and focus more on school. Requesting for a quarter break for kids to readjust and decided to hold and return when we were ready. We had many missed lessons due to schedule conflicts and travels and yet to have make up. Unfortunately, Jan decided to charge us one month in advance for not notifying her early enough of our hold on lessons. Not only that, she forgo and had us forfeit all prior missed lessons. We though we were to return in a few month as the kids adjust school. After this sour fall out, I won’t have our kids return to Jan at all. We had many red flags prior to having this break period with Jan. Kids were scare of Jan during lessons and my youngest had anxiety before lessons. I thought the pressures

Jan is very personable and flexible. I work 35hrs a week and attend Bellevue college. I really appreciate her flexibility and compassion towards teaching others to play the piano. She also offers student discounts and provides the workbooks. pro: she's really good at her job and is patient.
