I had the opportunity to observe Heather teach, and I was honestly blown away. I watched her work with everyone from very young beginners to advanced, conservatory-level pianists, from shy youth to grandmothers rediscovering their voices, in both group settings and one-on-one. Her ability to meet each student exactly where they are and move them forward with clarity, kindness, and real technical precision is incredible. In the vocal work especially, I saw boys come in convinced they were “just basses” and would never be able to sing certain notes. Through her exercises and technique, she helped them coordinate their chords and gradually warm up into higher ranges they didn’t think were possible. I have been taking voice lessons from Heather for 18 months and feel so grateful for the strength and clarity she has helped me develop in my voice. She is an amazing teacher and has a gift for finding the balance of being encouraging while also pushing us to grow and progress. I love how in tune she is with what each individual student needs in order for their voice to improve and always offers suggestions in a kind, encouraging way. She also does an amazing job at creating a safe place for us to be vulnerable during the learning process.
