Kat is an incredible teacher, with an outstanding musical background, who can motivate anyone! I - and my 10-year-old - are both students of hers, and she has kept us engaged and moving forward on our musical journeys for many (many!) fun and productive years!! She has tons of knowledge to share (with a rock-solid classical foundation), but adjusts her approach based on what each person needs at the time. (And is very intuitive in identifying what that looks like per student!) Kat is also great in-person or via Zoom, and has set up her studio to be accessible either way. :)

My child started piano lessons in person with Kat when she was 5. I remember being worried that she wasn’t yet fluently reading and Kat assured me she would be fine because she’d learn to read music and books simultaneously. She was so right! When everything went virtual a few years later, we decided to stick with Kat because she had such a great connection that my child practiced independently and looked forward to piano each week. Fast forward 9 years and my kiddo plays the piano to unwind at the end of the day, and still looks forward to piano class every week. At this stage, she is no longer learning to play. Our son is 7 years old and has been taking piano lessons with Kathy for almost a year now, and we absolutely love it! You can tell she has a true passion for music and genuinely enjoys what she does. She’s patient, encouraging, and makes learning piano such a positive experience. We couldn’t be happier with how much progress our son has made!
