Assumption Records helped solve a 40-year-old family mystery. My father is a huge Country music fan since he was a child. He had a cassette that he would play on his way to school in his home city of Amman, Jordan with no label, no artist name. Just a black cassette. He only recalled the name of each song on the cassette, and knew that the artist group was not a “famous” one. He unfortunately lost the cassette, but said that this song - specifically by this artist was always stuck in his head. We searched many record shops for assistance to see if they’d know what he’s looking for, typically they would know the group that sang the original, but never the group that sang the cover. Google maps had a odd location listed for the store though the street was correct. The store is in an old repurposed church. It is a decent sized record store with a large backstock and a HUGE online inventory that is different from what is available in store. The couple that owns the store is extremely kind and more than happy to make recommendations or talk about records in general. They host area events from record swaps to painting old unplayable records as art. This place will definitely become a frequent stop for us.
