I recorded here as an emerging artist. The first thing I can say is Gerry is a charismatic guy. However, I’m a rock/metal guitarist, and the idea of “double tracking” guitars was a foreign idea to him and his half ass assistant. They literally suggested just duplicating the guitar tracks and panning left and right. After a bit of back and forth they finally relented. The sad part was having six tracks per guitar. It was an unnecessary amount of amping of mics and prepping/micing. A simple sm57 and a R-121 micing would’ve been sufficient. Our mixer literally deleted all the extra tracks to mix and master our tracks. So you’re spending a ton of money for their time to mic your amps for your mixing engineer to just delete it; it doesn’t make sense. Why do I need a mic directly set on

What a great day at Skylab! I have worked in studios all over this country and Gerry king and his facility are top notch. We set up my keys in the control room and the sound was exquisite. I could write pages on how satisfied I am with Skylab. I have recorded an album of about 8 songs and it has been a fantastic experience. Gerry King is a master at this, and if you want to take your music career to the next level, you need to check this studio. Amazing guys and work.
