That same year, she began piano lessons with Mrs. Kathy, and a little later, added violin to her studies. Today, at 17 years old, she is still playing and growing as a musician, and we credit so much of that to the foundation Lowell and Kathy laid for her. I cannot recommend Lowell and Kathy enough. They are incredibly knowledgeable violin teachers and players. Their emphasis on technique gives players the foundation to be very successful. Additionally, they are very emotionally intelligent and caring teachers. Musical training can be a high pressure environment, yet Kathy and Lowell always supported me with so much grace. They inspire rather than enforce, and although they will challenge you, they have calm, warm demeanors. When I returned to Permian High as an assistant director, Kathy and Lowell’s students consistently demonstrated excellent technique and skills. I couldn’t have asked for better teachers.
