Dr. Barrett's teaching style is engaging and supportive, and she has a real talent for children to develop a love for music. Her commitment to the Suzuki method is evident in every aspect of her teaching. My older daughter was with Dr. Barrett for 12 years, and my younger daughter has been with her for 8 years, and we have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. Dr. Carolyn Barrett's professionalism, knowledge and skills are perfect for teaching children of all ages to love playing the violin! Our daughter began taking violin lessons when she was two years old and is still with Dr. Barrett ten years later. We delight in witnessing Dr. Barrett methodically teaching our daughter music theory, techniques and how to play beautiful music on her violin. Our daughter has grown to love playing the violin and has a deep appreciation for Classical music. Dr. Barrett is a superior instructor and offers her students the opportunity to play in groups settings and prepare for multiple recitals each year. Our son started piano with Dr. Barrett when he was 6 and our daughter started violin when she was 4. Both of them had a great experience and our daughter soon added piano as well. She continued with Dr. Barrett until she graduated high school. She is now a Music Education major at VCU. I'm sure the great experience our whole family had with Dr. Barrett was a major factor in her choice of college major.
