This is such a wonderful, welcoming music store (and live music venue)! We had a magical evening listening to traditional Hawaiian ukulele and song from Lady Ipo, which turned into an impromptu hula lesson and open mic night. Torah and her mother were so welcoming! This is just a magical, positive energy place for music; it welcomes locals and tourists equally. Put it on your must-visit list for Hanalei!

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Hanalei Strings during their live music night! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and incredible energy. We got to meet a talented local ukulele player and singer, and even got to enjoy a special performance with the shop owner’s mom on harmonica. Throughout the night, they shared so much about themselves, taught us how to Hula dance, and we enjoyed delicious Chicken in a Barrel while soaking it all in. Beyond the fun and music, we were truly inspired to learn about their generosity, during the pandemic in 2020, they donated a ukulele and music book to every high school graduate who had missed their transitional experience into adulthood, showing them that they are loved and appreciated.
