I attended my first rap battle at Gas Station Studios on a Saturday night to support a battle rapper I know. The studio isn't in the ritziest neighborhood, but organizers chose it because the building has the equipment and setup to host a rap battle. It was clean inside, with an area for photos (no lighting, so someone shone a light to capture decent photos), a stage, and a tiny space in the corner where a woman served as bartender. I enjoyed my first rap battle and would return for more.

I won’t record anywhere else in town. Gas and Tiana Shai are some of the most talented, dedicated, and serious artists I’ve met. Gas is our family producer and engineer, and Tiana sings, song writes, and engineers, and she’s excellent at what she does. Any women who need a safe space to record, look no further than this studio.
